If you’re installing Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard in a high-moisture environment such as a car wash, dairy facility, or other wash-down application, follow these special installation guidelines to ensure proper drainage and water management.
Install panels in a vertical orientation to allow for the best possible drainage. Vertical installation ensures water runs down the panels rather than collecting in horizontal seams.
Apply a small bead of silicone, approximately the thickness of a string of yarn, along the tongue of the panel. Insert the tongue into the groove of the previous panel and press the panels firmly together to ensure a proper connection. Wipe away any excess silicone. This creates a watertight seal between panels and prevents water infiltration behind the panel system.
If you’re using J Trim at the bottom of your wall, you must drill 1/4″ diameter drainage holes in the bottom of the trim every 16″ on-center to allow water to escape before installing it.
We recommend that silicone sealant is used to seal all corners, around all fixtures, and to repair small holes in high-moisture environments. Any kitchen or bath silicone sealant will do. In Canada, we often recommend DAP Silicone Ultra Kitchen, Bath & Plumbing Sealant. In the U.S., the product is branded as DAP Commercial Kitchen 100% Silicone Sealant.
The best way to select a corresponding colored silicone is to compare a sample of Trusscore to the color shown physically on the silicone tube at the store, as colors and brands will vary regionally.
